Stanley Donen (1924-2019) Güney Karolina'nın Columbia kentinde doğdu, ergenlik çağında Broadway korolarında dans ediyordu. MGM'de Gene Kelly ile On the Town (1949) ve Singin' in the Rain'i (1952) yönetti, müzikali stüdyodan gerçek sokaklara çıkardı; ardından Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) ve Funny Face (1957) geldi. Charade (1963) ve Two for the Road (1967) ile şık komediye ve romantizme yöneldi; hafif, hızlı ve zarif dokunuşuyla anılır.
