Scandinavian Cinema

Born in Copenhagen in 1889 and dying in 1964, Bodil Ipsen was a star of the Danish stage and screen who, with Lau Lauritzen Jr., formed one of the most successful directing partnerships in Danish cinema. Their wartime films include Afsporet (Derailed, 1942) and The Red Meadows (De røde enge, 1945), a resistance drama made soon after the Liberation, about a resistance fighter hunted by the Gestapo. It shared the Grand Prix at Cannes in 1946.
