Born in 1895 in Kansas and died in 1966, Keaton grew up in vaudeville and became known as the Great Stone Face for his deadpan expression. He performed his own spectacular stunts and built his comedies on precise, inventive physical gags. His films were underrated at first and are now ranked among the greatest of the silent era.
