Plot

A girl falls asleep and follows a stuffed white rabbit with scissors into a strange world of stop-motion animation, where she meets creatures made of bones, socks, animals and household objects. She grows and shrinks, falls through a drawer and is menaced by the rabbit. Jan Švankmajer's 1988 film, a surreal adaptation of Lewis Carroll's story, is dark and tactile, and has been influential on many animators.

Sinekatalog’s take

Jan Švankmajer's stop-motion Alice is a creepy, surreal reimagining of Carroll. Full of rattling bones, taxidermy and meat, it is dark, tactile and unsettling, a brilliant nightmare more than a children's fantasy.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
