Plot

During the 1984 miners' strike in northern England, an eleven-year-old boy, Billy, swaps boxing lessons for ballet classes, which he takes in secret, encouraged by his teacher, Mrs Wilkinson. His father and brother, striking miners, are shocked, but come to support his dream of an audition for the Royal Ballet School. Stephen Daldry's 2000 film was a worldwide hit.
