Plot
In 1922, a young Greek woman is one of a group of picture brides who sail to America to marry men they have never met. On the ship she falls in love with a photographer, which brings her into conflict with her promise. Pantelis Voulgaris's 2004 film, produced by Martin Scorsese, is a lyrical, black-and-white drama of emigration, hope and sacrifice.
