Plot
Mertkan, a middle-class young man in Istanbul, lives with his parents and works as an errand boy in his father's construction business. He falls in love with a girl, Cağla, from a different background, and has to confront his prejudices and his family's expectations. Seren Yüce's 2010 film, whose title means "Majority", is a sharp study of nationalism and masculinity, and won the Golden Orange.
Sinekatalog’s take
Seren Yüce's debut follows a complacent Istanbul young man whose love for a girl from another background tests his prejudices. Sharp and unflinching, with Bartu Küçükçağlayan strong, it is a stinging look at Turkish nationalism and class.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
