Plot

In the Californian town of Santa Mira, Dr Miles Bennell learns from his patients that their relatives seem to have been replaced by emotionless impostors. He discovers that giant seed pods from space are copying human beings while they sleep, leaving identical but soulless replicas. Don Siegel's 1956 science-fiction thriller has been read as an allegory of both Communist infiltration and McCarthyist conformity, and remains a tense classic.

Sinekatalog’s take

Don Siegel's lean sci-fi horror has a small-town doctor realise his neighbours are being replaced by emotionless duplicates. Often read as a Cold War allegory, it works as pure paranoia.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
