Plot
In 1948, American judge Dan Haywood arrives in Nuremberg to preside over the trial of four German judges accused of helping the Nazi regime. The defence lawyer Hans Rolfe argues that the accused only followed the law, while the prosecution and the political pressures of the Cold War close in. The film uses a mixture of fictional characters and real events.
Sinekatalog’s take
A long but never slack courtroom epic that asks how ordinary people take part in evil. The cast is enormous and Schell, Garland and Clift each have one unforgettable scene.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
