Plot
Christy Brown, born with cerebral palsy into a poor Dublin family, can only control his left foot. With the support of his mother and a doctor, Eileen Cole, he learns to communicate, paint and write, and becomes an author. Jim Sheridan's 1989 film, with Daniel Day-Lewis and Brenda Fricker, both of whom won Academy Awards, is a moving and unsentimental account of determination.
Sinekatalog’s take
Jim Sheridan's biopic of Christy Brown, who wrote and painted with his left foot. Daniel Day-Lewis won an Oscar, and the film is fierce and funny rather than pitying.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
