Plot

A widow, Jill McBain, arrives in the desert town of Flagstone to find that her family has been murdered by the hired gun Frank, who works for a railroad baron. She is helped by a mysterious harmonica-playing stranger and the outlaw Cheyenne, as they fight over land that the railway needs. Sergio Leone's 1968 epic, with Henry Fonda against type as the villain, and Ennio Morricone's score, is a grand elegy for the Old West.

Sinekatalog’s take

Leone's operatic western uses stillness as a weapon. Henry Fonda against type as the villain, Claudia Cardinale as the real centre, and a harmonica theme that haunts the whole film.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
