Plot
A portrait of General George S. Patton Jr., the brilliant, vain and outspoken American commander, from the Second World War campaigns in North Africa and Sicily to the drive across Europe. The film follows his rivalry with British general Montgomery, the famous slapping incident and his fall from favour, with his rival Rommel always in his thoughts. It opens with Patton's speech before a huge American flag.
Sinekatalog’s take
A war film built around one overwhelming performance, with George C. Scott never letting you decide whether Patton is a hero or a fool. Schaffner stages the battles on a huge scale yet keeps his eye on the man.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
