Plot
Jafar Panahi, who was banned from filmmaking by the Iranian authorities, drives a taxi through Tehran with a dashboard camera, and films the conversations of his passengers, among them a street vendor, a lawyer and his young niece. The 2015 film, partly staged and partly improvised, is a witty and humane comment on censorship, and won the Golden Bear at Berlin.
Sinekatalog’s take
Jafar Panahi's banned-filmmaker comedy has him driving a Tehran cab with a dashboard camera. Sly, funny and quietly brave, it turns a car into a witty portrait of a society.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
