Plot
In 1927 Hollywood, George Valentin, a silent-film star, refuses to move to talkies, while a young actress, Peppy Miller, whom he helped, rises to fame. As his career falls, hers rises, and he sinks into pride and poverty. Michel Hazanavicius's 2011 film, itself silent and in black and white, with Jean Dujardin, won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Sinekatalog’s take
Michel Hazanavicius's black-and-white silent film follows a star left behind by talkies. Charming and affectionate, with Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo, it won Best Picture with an old-fashioned romantic spirit.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
