Plot

A stylised, humorous film set in a Bulgarian village during the 1920s, where a balloon that has been tethered to the ground captures the attention of the villagers. They see it as a threat, a wonder and a political symbol, and the story's absurd events satirise authority. Binka Zhelyazkova's 1967 film was banned by the Bulgarian communist authorities for years, and is now regarded as a bold and original work of Eastern European cinema.

Sinekatalog’s take
