Plot

A flying saucer lands in Washington, D.C., and the alien Klaatu, with his huge robot Gort, delivers a message: the nations of Earth must stop their arms race or be destroyed. Hunted by the army, Klaatu hides among ordinary people and befriends a widow and her young son. Based on a short story by Harry Bates.

Sinekatalog’s take

A thoughtful, humane science-fiction film that argues for peace at the height of the Cold War. Bernard Herrmann's electronic score and the design of Gort are still striking.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
