Dr. Markway, an anthropologist who studies the supernatural, invites a few people to spend time in the notorious Hill House. Among them are the lonely, fragile Eleanor and the confident Theo. As the house's disturbances grow, Eleanor begins to feel that it wants her. Based on Shirley Jackson's novel The Haunting of Hill House.

Sinekatalog’s take

A masterclass in horror by suggestion: nothing is shown, and everything is sound, wide-angle distortion and Julie Harris's fraying performance. Many directors still cite it as the model for a ghost film.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
