Plot

In the eleventh century, the Norman knight Chrysagon is given a village on the Channel coast to guard against raiding Frisians. He wants a young village bride for himself and claims her on her wedding night under an old feudal right, which sets off a feud that ends in a siege of his tower. Adapted from the play The Lovers.

Sinekatalog’s take

A muddy, serious medieval drama that treats the Middle Ages as a harsh place rather than a costume party. Heston plays a proud man undone by desire, and the siege is staged with real weight.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
