Born in Santiago in 1976, Pablo Larraín belongs to a generation of Chilean film-makers born under the Pinochet dictatorship. His trilogy Tony Manero, Post Mortem and No deals with the dictatorship, and with the way ordinary people lived through it. No (2012), about the advertising campaign that brought down Pinochet in the 1988 plebiscite, was nominated for an Oscar. He then made international films about powerful women such as Jackie (2016), Neruda (2016) and Spencer (2021), on Jacqueline Kennedy, Pablo Neruda and Princess Diana. He and his brother Juan de Dios produce through their company Fábula.
