Plot
The film tells the story of Tony Wilson, a Manchester television presenter, and the city's music scene from punk to rave, through his Factory Records and the Haçienda nightclub. Bands such as Joy Division, New Order and Happy Mondays appear, as the fortunes of the label rise and fall. Michael Winterbottom's 2002 film, with Steve Coogan, is a funny and affectionate account.
Sinekatalog’s take
Michael Winterbottom's comic account of Manchester's music scene is witty, chaotic and affectionate. Steve Coogan is great as Tony Wilson, and the film captures the spirit of punk and rave with sly self-awareness.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
