Sinekatalog’s take

Kaneto Shindo's late film, made after the death of his partner Nobuko Otowa, centres on an old actress's slow decline. Gentle and elegiac, it won him the director of the year at the Japan Academy as a tender farewell.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
