It is the last summer of a family of peach growers in the Catalan village of Alcarràs. The landowner is to turn the farm into a solar farm, and the family, who farmed the land for generations on the basis of a handshake, has to face its loss. Carla Simón's 2022 film, with a cast of non-professional actors, won the Golden Bear in Berlin.
Sinekatalog’s take
Carla Simón's Golden Bear winner follows a Catalan peach-farming family losing its land. Naturalistic, warm and elegiac, with non-professional actors, it is a moving, observant portrait of a way of life ending.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
