Plot
In 2000, a group of Israeli soldiers at the Beaufort fortress in southern Lebanon prepare for the army's withdrawal. Under the command of a young officer, Liraz, they wait for the end of their service while the threat from Hezbollah hangs over them. Joseph Cedar's 2007 film, shot largely inside the claustrophobic outpost, won the Silver Bear for best director in Berlin.
Sinekatalog’s take
Joseph Cedar's war drama traps Israeli soldiers in a Lebanon fortress awaiting withdrawal. Tense, claustrophobic and sombre, it is a sharp study of waiting, futility and fear, and an Oscar nominee.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
