Plot
A gang of hopeless petty criminals in Rome plan to rob a pawnbroker's safe by breaking in through a neighbouring apartment. They hire an expert safecracker to train them, but their incompetence and the temptations of the kitchen destroy their plans. Mario Monicelli's 1958 comedy, with Vittorio Gassman and Marcello Mastroianni, parodies heist films and is a classic of Italian comedy.
Sinekatalog’s take
Mario Monicelli's heist comedy follows a gang of hopeless Roman crooks. Marcello Mastroianni and Vittorio Gassman are hilarious, and the film's warm, bumbling farce helped define the Italian-style comedy.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
