Plot

Jack Terry, a sound recordist for low-budget horror films, is recording effects in a park at night when he hears a gunshot, followed by a car plunging into a river. He rescues a young woman, Sally, and realises that the dead man was a presidential candidate and that the crash was no accident. Brian De Palma's 1981 thriller, with John Travolta, is an homage to Antonioni's Blow-Up and Coppola's The Conversation.

Sinekatalog’s take

Brian De Palma's paranoid thriller turns a sound recordist into a detective. Stylish, tense and tragic, with a great John Travolta and an unforgettable ending, it is one of De Palma's best.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
