Plot

In Cairo in 2013, after the military overthrow of President Morsi, supporters and opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood who have been arrested during protests are crammed together in the back of a police truck. The entire film takes place inside the van, as the prisoners argue, suffer in the heat and try to survive the unrest outside. Mohamed Diab's 2016 film opened Cannes's Un Certain Regard section.

Sinekatalog’s take

Mohamed Diab's drama takes place entirely inside a police truck packed with Cairo protesters of opposing factions. Tense, claustrophobic and humane, it turns confinement into a powerful allegory for a divided Egypt.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
