Plot

Two candidates, the calm Lok and the ambitious Big D, compete for the leadership of a Hong Kong triad society, the Wo Shing. When a vote chooses Lok but the baton of the chairman is missing, a violent struggle starts over the ceremonial item. Johnnie To's 2005 film is a cold, tense look at the rituals and betrayals of organised crime, and was followed by a sequel.

Sinekatalog’s take

Johnnie To's tense triad drama follows the bloody race to chair a Hong Kong society. Cool, calculating and brutal, with Simon Yam and Tony Leung Ka-fai superb, it is a gripping modern gangster classic.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
