Plot

An adaptation of Macbeth set in the Mumbai underworld, in which Maqbool, the right-hand man of the crime boss Abbaji, is persuaded by Abbaji's mistress Nimmi to kill his boss and take his place. As he rises, guilt and superstition haunt him. Vishal Bhardwaj's 2003 film, with Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah, is a notable Shakespeare adaptation.
