Plot
In Florence, Enrico, a man of the postwar years, is told that his younger brother Lorenzo has died. Looking back, he remembers the poverty-stricken childhood they shared, when they were separated by their grandmother's decision and later reunited as young men, and he comes to terms with his loss. Valerio Zurlini's 1962 film, with Marcello Mastroianni and Jacques Perrin, is a sober, tender drama of brotherhood that won the Golden Lion in Venice.
