Plot

The Texas rancher Bick Benedict brings home a headstrong bride from Maryland, Leslie, and they live through decades of change on his huge Reata ranch. Their world is shaken by prejudice, family disputes and the rise of the ranch hand Jett Rink, who strikes oil and becomes richer than Bick. Based on Edna Ferber's novel, with Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean in his last role.

Sinekatalog’s take

A three-and-a-half-hour epic about the changing Texas of the twentieth century, with a surprisingly frank look at racism. Dean's performance is the one most remembered, but the film's strength is its sweep.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
