Plot
Five interwoven stories show the reach of the Camorra in Naples and Caserta: a boy who becomes a courier, a tailor who works for a gang, two teenagers who think they are gangsters, an accountant and a waste-disposal businessman. Matteo Garrone's 2008 film, based on Roberto Saviano's book, with a bleak, documentary realism, won the European Film Award for best director and the Grand Prix at Cannes.
Sinekatalog’s take
Matteo Garrone's Camorra drama avoids glamour and shows crime as a grim, bureaucratic system. Its five stories are unflinching, patient and powerful, and its Naples housing blocks are chillingly real.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
