Cast
Plot
Maggie Cheung plays herself as a Hong Kong action star, who comes to Paris to star in a remake of Louis Feuillade's silent serial Les Vampires, directed by a burnt-out filmmaker, René Vidal. The chaotic production, with its egos and doubts, leads to a strange, dreamlike climax. Olivier Assayas's 1996 film is a tribute to Feuillade and Hong Kong cinema, and a comic portrait of French film-making.
Sinekatalog’s take
Olivier Assayas's playful backstage comedy has Maggie Cheung in a chaotic Paris remake of a silent serial. Witty, loose and cinephile, it is a lively tribute to filmmaking and the cult of the image.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
