Sinekatalog’s take
Sergei Eisenstein's stylised epic of Russia's first tsar is opulent and theatrical. Nikolai Cherkasov is imposing, and the film's expressionist images and Prokofiev score make a grand, if state-flattering, spectacle.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
