Plot
In 1991, just after the fall of the Albanian communist regime, two Italian conmen, Fiore and Gino, come to Albania to set up a fake shoe factory in order to steal EU subsidies. They need a local figurehead and choose an old man, Spiro, who turns out to be an Italian soldier who had been left behind in the war. Gianni Amelio's 1994 film is a moving study of lost identities and migration.
