Plot
Stéphane, a new police officer, joins an anti-crime unit in Montfermeil, near Paris. During a patrol, a stolen lion cub from a circus sets off a crisis between the police and a local gang, and an accident caught on a drone camera escalates the tension. Ladj Ly's 2019 film, set in the Paris suburb where Victor Hugo wrote his novel, won the Jury Prize at Cannes.
Sinekatalog’s take
Ladj Ly's Montfermeil drama builds from a tense patrol into an explosive spiral. Urgent, kinetic and angry, it exposes police and neighbourhood tensions with a drone shot that changes everything.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
