Plot
During the Bosnian war, a Bosnian soldier and a Serb soldier find themselves stuck in a trench between their lines with a third soldier who is lying on a spring-loaded mine. As the two enemies argue over blame, UN peacekeepers and journalists get involved, and the stalemate becomes a black comedy. Danis Tanović's 2001 film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Sinekatalog’s take
In the Bosnian war, two soldiers from opposing sides are stuck in a trench with a booby-trapped body. Danis Tanović's film is darkly funny and bitterly satirical about the war and UN impotence.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
