A film of Wagner's opera, in which the hero is played by both a man and a woman, and the stage is a giant model of Wagner's death mask.

Sinekatalog’s take

Hans-Jürgen Syberberg's version of Wagner's last opera uses a giant model of Wagner's death mask as its stage, with the hero played by both a man and a woman. Grand and strange, it is a bold, surreal and essential Wagner film.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
