Plot
In 1930s Hong Kong, a courtesan, Fleur, and her lover, the son of a wealthy family, make a suicide pact. Fifty years later, Fleur's ghost appears in modern Hong Kong, and asks for help to find her lover, who didn't die. Stanley Kwan's 1987 film, with Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung, is a ghost story that is also a lament for the past, and won him best director at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
Sinekatalog’s take
Stanley Kwan's ghost romance sends a 1930s courtesan's spirit to modern Hong Kong searching for her lover. Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung are superb in a lush, melancholic and ravishing love story across time.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
