Plot
In 1927 Hollywood, silent-film star Don Lockwood and his shrill-voiced partner Lina Lamont face ruin when talking pictures take over. Don, his friend Cosmo and the aspiring actress Kathy Selden rescue their disastrous first sound film by turning it into a musical, with Kathy secretly dubbing Lina's voice. Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen's 1952 comedy, with the title number in the downpour and Donald O'Connor's "Make 'Em Laugh", is widely regarded as the greatest Hollywood musical.
Sinekatalog’s take
The best-loved Hollywood musical, about silent stars facing the arrival of sound. Gene Kelly's title number is joy itself, and the whole film is funny, fast and light on its feet.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
