Plot

In early eighteenth-century England, as the country is at war with France, the ailing and capricious Queen Anne relies on her friend Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, who runs the government. When Sarah's cousin Abigail arrives, she works her way into the queen's affections, and the two women compete for her favour. Yorgos Lanthimos's 2018 film won an Academy Award for Olivia Colman.

Sinekatalog’s take

Yorgos Lanthimos's royal comedy is a vicious triangle of power, flattery and spite. Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz are all superb, and the fish-eye photography adds to the delirium.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
