Plot
Two women are arrested for theft: a poor woman who stole bread is jailed, while a rich kleptomaniac is let go. A social critique.
Sinekatalog’s take
Edwin S. Porter's 1905 short contrasts two thefts, a poor woman jailed for bread and a rich kleptomaniac set free. Brief and pointed, it is a landmark of early social-critical cinema.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
