Plot
In a dying Texas town in the early 1950s, high-school seniors Sonny and Duane drift through football, girls and the town's pool hall, run by Sam the Lion. As the town's only cinema prepares to close, their friendships and love affairs change. Peter Bogdanovich's 1971 film, shot in black and white with a cast including Timothy Bottoms, Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd and Ben Johnson, is a poignant elegy for small-town America.
Sinekatalog’s take
Peter Bogdanovich's black-and-white portrait of a dying Texas town in the 1950s. Elegiac, honest about loneliness and desire, with an excellent young cast including Jeff Bridges and Cybill Shepherd.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
