Plot

In 1951 Saigon, a ten-year-old girl, Mui, comes to work as a servant in a family with a mother who has lost a child, and a son who lives at home. Ten years later she is working for a young composer and falls in love with him. Trần Anh Hùng's 1993 film, shot on a French studio set, is a delicate, gentle study of memory and domestic life, and was nominated for an Academy Award.
