Sinekatalog’s take
Michael Haneke's black-and-white drama is set in a German village before WWI, where strange punishments occur. Cold and ambiguous, it suggests how rigid, cruel upbringing can breed later brutality.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
