Plot

T.S. Spivet, a ten-year-old mapmaker and inventor on a Montana ranch, wins a Smithsonian prize for a perpetual-motion machine. He secretly rides freight trains across the United States to collect it, carrying his sorrow over the death of his twin brother. Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 2013 English-language film, shot in 3D and based on Reif Larsen's novel, is an adventure about grief and family.

Sinekatalog’s take

Jeunet's most childlike film, an American road movie drawn like a storybook. The 3D maps and diagrams are inventive, though the sadness at its centre is stated more than felt.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
