Ireland

Irish cinema grew slowly, long overshadowed by images of Ireland made abroad. Tax incentives and the Irish Film Board helped from the 1980s, and Neil Jordan and Jim Sheridan told stories of the Troubles, family and identity that reached international audiences. A younger generation now makes both local dramas and animation of global quality.
