Born in Uppsala in 1919 and dying in 1995, Arne Mattsson was one of the most popular Swedish directors of the postwar decades, making thrillers, comedies and melodramas. One Summer of Happiness (Hon dansade en sommar, 1951), a story of a farm boy and a country girl, was an international hit because of a brief nude swimming scene, and won the Golden Bear in Berlin in 1952. He also made the thriller The Doll (Dockan, 1962) and other crime films.
