Plot
A young farmer, Göran, falls in love with Kerstin, a girl from a neighbouring farm, during a hot Swedish summer filled with dances, swims and country festivals. Their innocence meets the disapproval of the village's strict pastor and the hostility of her family, and the idyll ends in tragedy. Arne Mattsson's 1951 film created an international scandal because of a brief nude swimming scene, and won the Golden Bear in Berlin.
