Plot
Two travelling salesmen of novelty items, Sam and Jonathan, drift through a series of unhappy tableaux of Swedish life, including historical scenes that reach back to the eighteenth century. The film is built of static, deadpan scenes in pale colours, mixing absurd humour with sadness. Roy Andersson's 2014 film, the last of his trilogy about being a human being, won the Golden Lion at Venice.
Sinekatalog’s take
Roy Andersson's third in his Living trilogy strings together deadpan tableaux with two sad salesmen. Meticulous, bleak and weirdly funny, it won the Golden Lion for its offbeat vision of human frailty.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
