Sinekatalog’s take
Hou Hsiao-hsien's autobiographical film follows a Taiwanese family's years across the 1950s and 60s. Quiet, nostalgic and moving, with a sensitive handling of loss, it is a gentle, essential work of the Taiwanese New Wave.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
